Swanson Scholarship

About the scholarship

Rich was a member of the Alpha Iota Chapter of Sigma Pi. It was an organization in which he and Ruth wished to continue in his absence by virtue of a very generous gift. It is not a requirement of this scholarship that the applicant be a member, or intend to join, the Alpha Iota Chapter of Sigma Pi Fraternity. It is the intent to award meritorious applicants carrying on in the spirit demonstrated by Rich and Ruth Swanson. Rich was a member of the Alpha Iota Chapter of Sigma Pi and thus it was an organization in which he and Ruth wished to continue in his absence by virtue of a very generous gift.

It is in the memory of that gift and their philanthropy that the Alpha Iota Educational Foundation (AIEF) established the Rich and Ruth Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship reminds both incoming freshman to Missouri University of Science and Technology and alumni of Sigma Pi to leave a lasting legacy to all around us and those that come after us.
