Andrew Vidal Memorial Scholarship

About the scholarship

Andrew Lee Vidal pledged Sigma Pi fraternity in his first semester at the Missouri University of Science & Technology. During his five years here, Andy served the Alpha Iota Chapter as Pledge Trainer and as a leader to many. He had one of the biggest smiles of any brother, friend, or son, and everyone who knew him misses him dearly. He tragically died in a car accident on the morning of Sunday, November 9, 2003. The Alpha Iota Educational Foundation (AIEF) and the Vidal family created the Andrew Vidal Memorial Scholarship in 2004 to honor the memory of Andrew Vidal and his love for learning.

This scholarship provides two scholarship opportunities:

  • Pledges and initiated members of the Sigma Pi fraternity at the Missouri University of Science & Technology
  • Any candidate attending or planning to attend an accredited college or junior college

The award is based on the accomplishments of the individuals who exemplify the characteristics of brother/sisterhood, service, and academic excellence. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher.

Awards are based on the following:

  • Essay: 50% (content and financial need)
  • Extracurricular activity: 25% (community and leadership)
  • GPA and academic achievement: 25%
